The Coves of Argentario

Cala Del Gesso

Along the first stretch of coast up to Cala del Gesso you will find many villas and cottages hidden in the grove and allowing for some paths to reach the beach. Proceeding along this trail, this side of Monte Argentario becomes very steep, and it is very difficult to reach the beach by land. However if you are on a boat, you can get here much more easily, and enjoy the quiet of this isolated beach.


How to get there: from Porto Santo Stefano proceed on the Via Panoramica (Provincial Road 65) up to Km 5 +900,then turn right onto the paved road (just like if you were headed to Cala del Bove) and after a short distance (350 meters) you will reach a gate. From here, take the steep path that leads to the beach. It should take about 15 minutes
.
Winds: The beach is well protected by the winds.
Parking: Via Panoramica.
Notes: The ideal place for a pleasant seaside stay during low season.

Cala del Bove

It is a cove with gravel and rocks, and is considered a paradise for divers. The seabed hosts a wide variety of species such as octopus, morays and lobsters but also corals and anemones.


How to get there: from Porto Santo Stefano proceed on the Via Panoramica (Provincial Road 65) up to Km 5 +900, then turn right onto the paved road (just like if you were headed to Cala del Gesso) and after 1.5 km you will reach a gate. Turn right on the pedestrian path and in about 15 minutes you will reach the cliff of Cala del Bove.

Cala Piccola

Cala Piccola is another well-known beach of the Argentario.
Formerly known as Cala dei Piatti, it is a small beach, but extremely beautiful. In the past, it was famous for the presence of coral, today completely disappeared. The rock in front of the beach is in fact named Scoglio del Corallo (Coral Rock), and its base offers an interesting view to experienced scuba divers.
How to get there: from Porto Santo Stefano proceed on the Via Panoramica (Provincial Road 65) up to Km 7 +500, then follow the private road to the hotel residence "Torre di Cala Piccola". From there the road arrives to the bathing establishment and to the cliffs.
Winds: exposure to westerly winds.

Capo d'Uomo

Capo d'Uomo is one of the most beautiful beaches of Monte Argentario and it is located north of the Argentario promontory just below Capo d'Uomo tower, which reaches a height of 350 meters above the sea level. From the tower, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the Tuscan Archipelago. The beach is very well known and loved because of the wonderful natural frame all around it.

How to get there: access is only possible by boat.
